St Stephen Presbyterian Day School

Our outdoor learning environment is a great extension of our indoor classrooms.  It provides ample opportunity for problem-solving, creative thinking, social competence, language use, and gross and fine motor skills.  Our developmentally appropriate playground is nestled under large shady oak trees overlooking the Fort Worth skyline and houses our “musical garden”.  Our “musical garden” consist of steel drums, bongo drums, a rain wheel, thunder drums, chimes and a Glockenspiel in addition to all of our active play equipment.  God’s creation is a great place to continue the learning process.

The Day School operates on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, September thru May.

The Day School accepts children beginning at five months of age thru Pre-Kindergarten.  Children are assigned to their classrooms according to their age as of September 1 of the school year.

The quality of an early childhood program is greatly affected by the extent to which knowledge of child development is applied within the program. The staff of SSPDS is a highly qualified and professional staff. Most teachers are degreed in Early Childhood Education and all have many years of extensive training and experience working with children. All teachers are trained in CPR and first aid. All staff members are carefully selected for their ability to work with children as well as their ability to work together. As SSPDS, our goal is not to meet our needs but to meet your child’s needs.

The Three’s and Pre-K classes attend weekly chapel service with Pastor Fritz and Mr. Scott where they sing and learn a Bible story to help them grow in the Lord. Planting seeds of Truth to one day yield a great harvest!  All classes are visited by Ms. Beth, our music teacher and Director of Christian Education, on Wednesdays with her love for music.  We get to hear sweet voices, tapping toes, and dancing giggles in the halls.  Music is instrumental in brain development of young children.

We provide a variety of developmentally appropriate learning opportunities and sensory experiences throughout the school year. Our learning environments allow the children to take an active role in selecting from activities with blocks, manipulatives, art, dramatic play, science and discovery, literature, math concepts, and much more!  Our environments are designed for the eager and early learners with child size furnishings thus promoting independence and cooperative learning.
