Lauren Ferguson
Lauren FergusonDirector
Lauren Ferguson became the Day School Director in December 2019. She earned a BS in Social Work from TCU and a MS in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. Lauren worked as a Crisis Counselor in Birdville ISD for eight years before staying home with her children. She and her husband, Matt, have two boys, both of whom attended SSPDS. It was during this time that she fell in love with the atmosphere and mission of the Day School. Lauren’s vision for the school is to continue providing a developmentally appropriate program for children while also supporting and nurturing the entire family.
Kristin Day

Kristin Day is excited to be in her eighth year at SSPDS. Kristin studied early childhood education with a specialization in ESL at the University of Houston. She is happily married to her college sweetheart and they are the proud parents of two daughters and one son. She has always had a passion for children and absolutely loves her job! When not at school, she’s spending time with her family, crafting, cooking up something yummy in the kitchen, and cheering on her kids at their various activities.
Deena Baxley

Deena Baxley has been at SSPDS for fourteen years. Deena has been married to her high school sweetheart, Jack, for 39 years. They are the parents of one daughter and son-in-law, and have a new grandson on the way! In her spare time, she loves to read a good book as well as cooking, baking, crafting and gardening.
Jan Torrieri

Jan Torrieri has been at SSPDS for fifteen years. Jan received her B.S. in early childhood education from Texas Tech University and has previously taught pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade in public schools. Jan has a daughter and son-in-law and is a very proud grandmother of three. She is a big fan of Texas Tech football, the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. Jan loves gardening, decorating, fashion, music and dancing.

Larissa and her husband are the proud parents of two lovely daughters and one smiley little boy. In her spare time, Larissa enjoys volunteering at her church, reading, cooking, running, and spending time with family and friends.
Susan Horton

Susan Horton is in her second year at SSPDS. She has a fifth grade daughter and a second grade son. Susan studied elementary education at LSU and also counseling in education at TCU. She has taught fifth grade as well as served as a school counselor. She currently serves in the children’s ministry in her church with her husband. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her three dogs.

Melody is excited to be in the two year old room this year! She started at SSPDS as a substitute teacher and loved it, and then spent a year in the infant room. Melody has a BSN from West Texas State University now known as West Texas A&M University. She was a practicing nurse for 18 years, then became a full-time mom after her daughter was born. Melody has been married for 29 years and her daughter attends USC in California. Fight On! She enjoys hiking, traveling and hanging out with her husband and dogs.

Rachael Powers is in her sixth year at SSPDS. She is a graduate of TCU with a B.A. in art history. She is happily married and loves spending time with her husband and dog. She and her husband are very active members of their church. When she isn’t working or serving in the children’s ministry at church, Rachael enjoys spending time with family, crafting, working in the yard, going to museums, baking, and reading.

Sonia Behrens has been at SSPDS for seventeen years. She is married to her high school sweetheart and is the proud mom of two boys. In her spare time, she enjoys running and spending time with her family, friends and two amazing grandsons!

She is married with two children, son is a Freshman at A&M and her daughter, an Aggie graduate, is a Special Education teacher. She has worked in the children’s ministry at her church for the past sixteen years and loves being with the little ones. In her spare time she loves baking, the Texas Rangers, and spending time with family and friends.

This is Samantha Reece’s first year in the infant room and she couldn’t be happier to join the SSPDS family! She holds a bachelors degree from the University of Texas Arlington. She is married and has a one year old daughter with a baby boy due in May. When she isn’t chasing a toddler around, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.
